From December 27, 1858, Melbourne's Cremorne Gardens hosted a huge fair with exhibitions of all description. Among these was "The Wizard" who promised to "explode his Gun Trick". Of the Wizard we know nothing more. The fair's other attractions included Professor Risley, Richardson's drama and burlesque, Astley's Royal Amphitheatre of equestrians, the New York Minstrels, The 'Fat Boy', The Lion Queen, and Professor Cushla's Classical Groupings and Poses Plastique.
